Up until now each of these 85 AGVs has transported more than 100,000 containers. The motivation for the new order derives from the positive experience with VDL’s hybrid drive and the trust that has developed between the two parties over the years. The new order concerns the replacement of older AGVs.

The system is comparable to that used by large car manufacturers. The AGVs can communiCATe with each other, so they can drive closer together and this results in shorter waiting times between trips, which in turn means that more containers per AGV can be transported.The design is also analogous to a regular road vehicle. This makes it possible to track developments in the automotive sector for the continued development of the AGVs.
